Baby Sleep: Transferring Baby to Crib
- Go slow and stay strong. Don't make any sudden movements as you head toward the crib and be sure to support the baby's body fully.
- Head first. Lay the baby's head down in the crib first, then slowly lay the rest of her body down until she's completely on her back.
- Hands off. Slowly remove your hands, one at a time. Snatching them away too quickly might startle your baby.
- Stay put. Watch to be sure your baby stays asleep once you've removed both hands. If he stirs a bit, give him a pat to settle him into sleep again.
Tip: If you've got a baby who's prone to startling and flailing, consider swaddling her before you rock her to sleep.
