
Baby Sleep: Transferring Baby to Crib
Learn how to put a sleeping baby in the crib.
You just got the baby to sleep, now all you have to do is manage to get him into the crib without starting the crying all over again! Here are some tips to make the transfer a success:
Tip: If you've got a baby who's prone to startling and flailing, consider swaddling her before you rock her to sleep.
report abuse- Go slow and stay strong. Don't make any sudden movements as you head toward the crib and be sure to support the baby's body fully.
- Head first. Lay the baby's head down in the crib first, then slowly lay the rest of her body down until she's completely on her back.
- Hands off. Slowly remove your hands, one at a time. Snatching them away too quickly might startle your baby.
- Stay put. Watch to be sure your baby stays asleep once you've removed both hands. If he stirs a bit, give him a pat to settle him into sleep again.
