Child Adoption: Emma Marie's Story
Submitted by Syrikay
On July 17 my hubby and I were talking about adopting a baby since we have one boy and can't have anymore and I really want a baby girl. The next morning I called the adoption agency and was on the list. Nine months later I got a call from the agency that there is a couple that wants me to have their baby. I couldn't believe it myself, after nine months of hoping to get a baby I am getting one.
The agency said: "We have a couple who want you to have their baby when she's born on May 6, 2009." Then a day before the baby was born, I went to meet the parents with my bag and clothes to stay overnight with them. After all, they are giving me their baby, it's the least I can do. When I arrived in the hospital, I searched for the baby's birth mum's name, and when I found it, I greeted them politely and cheek-kissed both of them. Then I introduced myself and we got talking about the baby and asked why they chose me and then the mom, Sarah, was feeling a sharp pain from her stomach.
When I went to get the nurse and came back, she checked that the baby is OK and gave Sarah some painkillers. At night Sarah's hubby slept on the other chair while Sarah slept on her bed and I on the other chair two chairs. The next morning at 11 AM, Sarah felt a strong pain that came and went. An hour later at lunchtime, I was with Sarah all the time while her hubby went to get something to eat. Then at 12:01 PM Sarah's water broke and I called the nurse for help and called her hubby on the phone. While her husband was on the way back, I was acting like the husband, supporting her and telling her to push! Then her husband arrived just two mins before my future daughter was born.
At 12:06pm Emma Maria was BORN!!!!!
I said thank you to Sarah for pushing my daughter into the world. She said, "No, thank you for being so supportive. I knew I chose the right person."
Then I hugged both of them and I went out of the door to go and phone my husband and tell him our Emma was born and fit and will be home in a few days.
When I went back to the room, the baby was gone. I didn't know where she had gone.
A few days later finally, we were discharged from the hospital and Sarah and her hubby said goodbye to their baby.
I was so happy after that because the baby is ours now and that just makes me feel great.
Now Emma is nearly 1 and is a happy, smiling baby who loves her pink nursery and her special pram. I love going to the shops and playing with her. And I owe everything to Sarah and her husband, Alex.
Thank you
