Finding Child Care: I'm an Involuntary Babysitter!
Submitted by denisee204
So my kid found a family of 10 kids who moved in around the corner. I should actually say they found him. While I am into having them play together—god only knows my kid needs the social interaction—I am not into watching three or four of another person's kids for hours on end.
Aside from not knowing who their parents are, these kids are not too keen on listening. My son, who already doesn't listen enough, has been taking their cues on running into the street like they do. I also wonder what kind of parents allow their kids to just wander the streets without bothering to check if their kids are safe.
The last reason I feel that I can't handle having the kids at my house is because I'm so far along in my pregnancy I can barely squat down to pick up my own son's mess. I'd rather have some kind of alone time, and with them it's just not possible. Am I wrong for not wanting to be someone else's free babysitting service while I am pregnant, or should I be more sensitive to that family's apparent issues with finding proper child care?
