Tons of countries have a red, white and blue flag—from France to Chile to Thailand to the good ol' USA. This super cute red, white and blue paper chain makes a great Fourth of July craft—but it doesn't just have to be for the Fourth of July! You can create easy paper chains in all different colors to celebrate tons of different holidays—from the obvious to the festive (red and green Christmas countdown chains? Or blue and white Hanukkah chains?), to the traditional (orange and black Halloween paper chains!) to the just plain fun (Top 'o the mornin' green and white paper chains for St. Patty's Day!)!
- Construction paper in whatever colors you'd like your chain
- Scissors
- Tape or stapler
Decide what color flag you want to make and choose your construction paper in those colors. For the Fourth of July, you'll obviously want to go with the traditional red white and blue!
Cut 25 - 50 2" x 8" strips of red, white and blue paper (the more strips, the more occupied the kids will be!)
Staple or tape the first one into a loop. Loop the next one onto that one and staple or tape. A pattern is always nice, but if they're not in a pattern-y mood, no biggie. Keep on going until your run out of paper or your kids decide they're bored.
Hang your new patriotic craft in a doorway, on a picnic table—wherever!
