When it's time to buy a stroller, forget what the celebrity-mom-du-jour is pushing around. You need to find one that fits your needs and budget. Here are a few things to consider when buying a baby stroller:

• Lifestyle. Think about how and where you'll be using the stroller. Will you be pushing baby while you train for your next 10k? Go for a good jogger stroller. Will you be navigating the mall? Think umbrella stroller. Strolling through the city? Get a pram.
• Ease-of-use. Both parents should feel comfortable using the stroller, despite differences in height or gait. Consider adjustable-height handles, swivel wheels, car-seat compatibility, storage pockets, weight of the stroller and the ease with which you can fold it up and throw it in the back of the car or carry it up a flight of stairs.
• Safety. Any baby stroller that's been recalled should be pulled from the shelves of retailers, but it's still a good idea to go online to look for the latest recalls. This is even more important if you acquire a used stroller. Obviously, you'll want to avoid anything with sharp edges or broken or missing parts.

Finally, keep in mind that strollers can be pretty pricey, so it's a good idea to try 'em out before you buy one. Go to a store that sells baby gear and push different models around, test the straps and brakes, try folding and opening them with just one hand (something you might have to do later while you've got baby on your hip).
