Baby Jogger Jump Seat Recall

Baby Jogger Jump Seats may not securely lock into place and cause falls—safety strap kit available.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just announced a voluntary recall of the Baby Jogger Jump Seat made by Baby Jogger LLC.

The jump seat is a fabric seat accessory with the name "Baby Jogger" on the front that is attached to the mounting bracket on the frame of a Baby Jogger City Elite, Baby Jogger City Classic or Baby Jogger Summit stroller. The jump seat allows a toddler and baby to ride together in the same stroller at the same time.

The jump seats were sold in stores nationwide and online from January 2008 through July 2010 for about $100. Affected jump seats have the item number J7J50 printed on them.

The reason for the recall? Some jump seats may not properly lock into place, causing the seat to disengage from the stroller and allowing the kid to fall out. Baby Jogger has received four reports of kids falling from the seat and sustaining scrapes, bruises, cuts and one broken nose.

Parents should immediately stop using the jump seats and contact Baby Jogger for a safety strap kit by e-mailing them at recall@babyjogger.com, or visiting the firm's website at BabyJogger.com. You can also call Baby Jogger toll-free at (877) 506-2213 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET.
