Phil & Ted Jogging Stroller Recall

Two models of Phil & Ted single-seat jogging strollers have been recalled due to parent injury hazards, replacement parts available.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just announced a voluntary recall of the Sport V2 and Classic V1 models of single-seat jogging strollers by maker Phil & Ted. These strollers were sold in specialty kids' stores nationwide from May 2008 through July 2010.

The reason for the recall? Phil & Ted has reported that it is possible that while folding and unfolding the stroller, a parent's finger could become caught in the hinge mechanism, posing amputation and laceration hazards. There have been three reported injuries, including one finger tip amputation.

The recalled strollers can be identified by their serial numbers, printed on the inside of the folding hinge: Sport V2 recalled serial numbers are 0308/0001 - 0510/0840, and Classic V1 serial numbers are 0308/0001 - 0510/0906.

Parents should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and contact Phil & Ted to arrange for the shipping of a free hinge-cover kit and repair instructions. Contact the company by calling toll-free (877) 432-1642 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visiting the company's website.
