Costumes You Can Make at Home (With Things You Probably Already Have at Home)

You may not be the craftiest parent out there, but at 3:00 PM on trick-or-treat night, you have all the motivation you need to throw together a last-minute costume with things that you already have at home. If that's not crafty, well, we don't know what is.
  • Bunch of grapes: Tape small purple or green balloons (water balloons without water work the best) to a purple or green sweat suit. Use homemade makeup to paint your kid's face a corresponding color.
  • Robot: Use duct tape to tape kid-size boxes together. Accessorize with aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, tin pie pans and Slinkies.
  • Fairy princess: Dust off an old bridesmaid's, Easter, flower girl, communion or other once-worn dress and add costume jewelry, a crown and a feather boa.
