Kid Healthy Snack: No-Sugar Applesauce
Fresh (and warm) applesauce always tastes better than the canned stuff—and when I make it myself, I know that it doesn't have added sugar (which my kids don't need).
- 6 large apples (Granny Smith, Gala and Honeycrisp are my favorites), peeled and cored.
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- Put all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft and broken up.
- Remove from heat and stir vigorously to break apples apart to your liking.
- Cool and serve.
