Childhood Illnesses: Bad Case of Chicken Pox
Submitted by snowinthesand
Help!! I am about to go crazy! My 22-month-old has chicken pox! Yes, she had the chicken pox vaccine and I have no idea how or where she got them. I do not know what I would do without Little Bill, and someone needs to tell Noggin to add more Yo Gabba Gabba!
I teach third grade during the year and as a single parent who has no shared custody (i.e., a break), I am looking forward to going back to my classroom. My daughter is constantly fussy, will not nap (she won't nap when I am on my vacations), only wants milk and is about to drive me nuts! The Benadryl for itching does not seem to be making her drowsy ... reverse reaction actually. Today she woke up at 6:30 and was up until 10 PM!!!
Usually my mom would be here to help out (she watches her during the day when I work) but she has gone to Europe for some R and R. Any suggestions on things I can do and ways to stay sane? I do not want to contaminate the entire city with a childhood illness, but I am starting to think it's every man for himself! All of my friends, most of whom are also teachers, have children ... no one is into exposing contagious children to everyone else—not like it was when I was a child. HELP ME!!
