Keep Your Kid Out of the Cat Litter Box

My kid seems to think the litter box is some sort of miniature indoor sandbox. To prevent her from getting into it—but still allow the cats access—we put up a baby gate on the bathroom door and removed one of the rungs so there's a space wide enough for the kitties to slip through but not so big that our kid can get her little butt in there.
