Swine Flu Symptoms

What are the symptoms of H1N1 (swine flu)?

Swine flu (H1N1) symptoms are similar to seasonal flu symptoms. They're all the usual suspects that keep you up at night and keep the cute humidifier companies in business, including:

  • fever
  • sore throat
  • cough
  • body aches
  • headache
  • chills
  • fatigue
  • diarrhea & vomiting (in some cases)
The CDC recommends you seek urgent medical attention for children if they exhibit the following flu symptoms:

  • fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • blue/gray skin color
  • not drinking enough fluids
  • severe/persistent vomiting
  • not waking up or interacting
  • being so irritable they do not want to be held
  • flu-like symptoms that improve, but then return with fever and a worse cough
For more information on swine flu, check out our Swine Flu or H1N1 flu pages or stay up-to-date by visiting the CDC's flu website, which contains information about 2009 H1N1 influenza.
