mucus turning green

I am still puzzled as to why doctors overlook the symptoms of my children that have runny noses and it is running out GREEN!
Now when this happens to other children the parents in my neighborhood that there is an infection going on.
Now I have checked Wedmd.com and it says the same thing but my doctor dismissed my kids and there noses are still running green stuff.
