Questioning Immunizations for Kids' Health

Submitted by brandibell
Hello everyone! I am a mother of a 3&frac1/2;-y/o and 33 weeks preggers with my second child. I used to work part-time at Akins Natural Health Food store and encountered lots of moms/grandmothers with children with autism. As we've all seen and heard, several moms blame it on their child's immunizations. I met several moms who strongly advised me NOT to get my son's 4-y/o shots. Well I haven't taken their words for it although I encountered several women and I decided it'd be best for me to research this for myself.

Well ... there is a lot of information out there that makes me very uneasy about my kid's health and the immunizations that he's scheduled to get at 4. In addition to that, there is also some negative information out there about the newborn shots as well. I fully understand the importance of immunizations as I received them as a child, but times have changed and the ingredients are not the same as they were back then. My husband and I are strongly considering not getting out newborn immunized against MMR and chickenpox as well as the vitamin K shot given at birth.

Any moms out there understand my standpoint and have refused immunizations? If so, please share with me how you handle/handled the situation. I'm open to all sides but I'm more interested in hearing from mom's who have been there, done that.

Thanks.
