1st day putting my two year old to sleep in his own bed

This is a battle I've fought one too many times. Its not the first time I have attempted for my son to get in the habit of sleeping in his own bed. I'm trying to get him ready for his own room because as of right now his bed is in our room. In about three months we plan on moving so he will have his own room and needs to get the hang of this now....
Before, we have gotten him to the point where he would actually sleep in his own bed but then a few days later some how he would sneak into our bed....
Well unfortunately for him not this time... he is not as small as before and him sleeping in my bed with my husband and I really affects my quality of sleep, I love snuggling with him but I'm sick of waking up every single morning with pains in my neck and back and feeling terrible and restless before work.
Needless to say tonight was terrible. He cried the entire time and it was extremely hard getting him to stay in his bed. Plus I felt bad to see my boy cry like that. After about two hours of re-assuring him and trying to make this easy and comfortable for him, I just realized I had to use tough love. I knew he was exhausted so I turned off the tv ( which I leave on for him at night) and stop replying to him.... it was tough but before I could finish this spill... he was snoring like a baby....
I think I won this battle but I hope he wont feel depressed or something because I won't let him sleep in our bed. I'm only doing this for his best. I hear the first day is the worse so I pray tomorrow is a lot better. Wish me luck!
