Mother's Day Ideas: Sleeping In Is Not for Me!

Submitted by Erin
Last Mother's Day, my husband decided to let me sleep in. The night before, he explained his plans: We were going to the late service at church and skipping out on brunch altogether in lieu of a relaxing morning at home. I could even stay under the covers until midday if I wanted to.
So my husband was a bit irritated when I woke up at 7 AM. I tried to stay in bed until 7:30 AM just to appease him, but I got bored of waiting and made my entrance into the living room at 7:15. To my credit, I did relax on the couch for 10 minutes while I waited for the coffee to brew.
I'm just not a sleeping-in and lazing around type of person. I like to be up and moving. I like to spend my mornings playing with my kids, a hot cup of coffee in one hand and a toy truck in the other. Sweet as my husband is for trying to act on his Mother's Day ideas, a morning off sounds like torture to me.
Although I would never tell him that, I am taking matters into my own hands this year. I suggested an early brunch at a place that will have a two-hour wait after 9 AM. I've suggested that we get there early so that the kids don't have to wait so long. He said it was OK as long as I'm not upset that I won't get to sleep in on Mother's Day. I told him that I'm willing to make the sacrifice.
