Child Behavior: When Children Steal
Get tips for dealing when your child has been caught stealing from a store or a friend.
- Make sure your child knows that stealing is wrong.
- Consider your child's age. Children under 6 might not yet understand that we can't just take the things we want.
- Have your child return the item to its rightful owner.
- Consider possible larger problems if the stealing is recurring. Chronic stealing might be an indication of low self-esteem.
