Too Many Words

Through much trial and error, I have learned that sometimes I can use too many words to get my children to do chores around the house or just clean their room. For example, when I say, "You need to go and clean up your room before you go to bed so that someone won't trip and fall if they need to get up in the middle of the night and use the potty." Usually, I repeat myself numerous times and end up frustrated. But over time, I've learned that if I keep it short and say, "Clean room now!" I get much better results. I guess Tarzan was more advanced than I thought!
