Do your kids have "Olympics fever"?
We were over at our friend's house the other day, having dinner, and they put the Olympics on. We were watching gymnastics and all of the kids there were SO into it! A 7 year old boy, two 11 year olds and our 16 year old. We had to actually have them calmn down a few times because everyone was trying to be an Olympic gymnast in the living room, and there just wasn't enough room.
It also sparked a bunch of good conversation. The kids were trying to come up with what they thought new events would be (planking..lol) and what it took to make it to they Olympics.
Have your kids been watching? Are they interested in it?

The girls are loving it so much, haha. Not sure if it has anything to do with the Olympics being so close to us, they think it's cool that they're being held in their own country I think. Niall and Louis are of course way too little to understand what's up, but Bel and Finn have been fasinated by it. Especially gymnastics, football (because their dad coaches a team and we're all into it normally too), swimming, water polo, diving, and volleyball. We were at a family reunion back in the States for my side and everyone was getting it since they had just begun at the time. I was still pregnant was Louis so I wasn't participating, but everyone was showing off as gymnasts since some cousins that were like 14, 12, and 9 I think were actually in gymnastics and everyone was jokingly trying to beat them. It was all a lot of fun, haha. It's actually been really funny since my dad and sisters in the States have been getting really into it and tracking it mostly just to see how much better the US is doing in comparison to the UK just so that they could tease me about it. My husband's a huge countryman so he and all his friends get really pumped up when the UK wins at anything. I just like watching for the sake of watching haha.

My boys love them and so does my step daughter. My boys love any and every sport though (that boys play, they aren't a fan of girl sports besides gymnastics.. can't blame them), so I'm not surprised they are enjoying the Olympics. They are keeping up with the medals and who's doing best in what sports and so on. I think it helps that the UK is doing well which is keeping 'em glued. My step daughter just likes to see the cute guys and wants to watch the closing ceremony for the Spice Girls.. (she's almost 13, she wasn't alive when they hit their fame, so I'm not sure why the interest from her).

They haven't really had a chance to get really into it because we had our cable turned off awhile back. While we were on vacation last week they got to watch some from our beach house and were pretty into it, though I think they were most excited about the sports that we were most excited about (track and gymnastics).
I think it's great for kids to be exposed to the Olympics. They get to see so many young people excelling and hopefully it can jump start an interest in athletics in kids everywhere.

My kinds don't have the least bit of an interest in the Olympics. If my husband turns it on, they only complain that he should change the channel because it is boring.
The only sport they are interested in is soccer (well and my daughter likes to dance, but doesn't like to watch others dance) but that isn't in the Olympics of course. ;)

We are so into it at our house....my children are both adopted (my son from Korea and my daughter from Ethiopia)...the other day we were watching all day and my son was soooo excited when Korea won at Archery and later that afternoon my daughter was jumping up and down when a woman from Ethiopia won during track and field :) It has been really fun for our whole family.

Yes! Gymnastics especially holds their interest; Will is all, "I can do that!" and tries to imitate the moves. ;)
