Just wondering. Do you all do a wow gift for birthdays? My daughter is going to be 5 next week and we had planned on getting her a bike but it is already cold and by the time she can actually ride it she will have grown a bit so we are waiting til spring for the bike. Now we are not sure what to get. The only things that she really likes are her LPS toys or Zoobles and other little toys like that. She is not really a greedy child but we usually get her one big gift and some clothes or something like that. Do you think a few small gifts are just as nice to a kid as one larger gift?

Do you all have any other gift ideas for a five yo? I have looked and looked and there is nothing that really jumps out at me that she would like. The only thing she has really asked for are the LPS toys and orbees soothing spa thing that we refuse to buy.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We ended up getting her a littlest pet shop playset, (a small one) and an easy bake oven. The oven was sort of a panic purchase because we thought we had to get something and were not really sure what else to do. She had asked for one but not seriously.  We looked at doll houses and some other playsets but nothing seemed right. I really regret getting the oven. She was happy with the LPS set and would have still have been happy with just that. She does like it but she helps me bake already so I am not sure if she will enjoy it after the novelty wears off.

Going out for a day is a great idea. We will probably do that now that the family is all gone. She ended up sick the day after the party and still is. Hopefully she will be better by this weekend and we can go to a farm or something. Her party was at a pumpkin farm and someone took the pumpkin she picked off of her table. It was too late to do another hayride to pick another one so she really wants to go back .

Rosie just gets one small gift on her birthday. Usually just a new doll or a book. We take her out on a trip on her birthday, sometimes to ride horses or paint pottery, something small.

My kids are fine with smaller gifts.  Maybe you could give her a smaller gift and a gift certificate for a day with you... take her out to lunch and then to a toy store and have her pick something out.

I think small gifts are nice too. If you are looking for a big one though, maybe a doll house? I loved mine when I was a kid (even though I wasn't much for dolls generally) and Fisher Price has plastic ones that are much less expensive than wooden ones. I have no idea what an LPS or Zooble is so I don't know if this is something your daughter would like, but my 3 year old adores hers.

We do quite a few small gifts for birthdays, especially since we do fairly large birthday parties. For Grayson's fourth birthday, which was Toy Story 3 themed, we bought him a Buzz Lightyear doll, a Buzz t-shirt, Buzz and Woody Crocs, and Toy Story 3 on DVD.  His one "big" gift he's gotten was his tricycle on his 3rd birthday.

I always buy my nieces Barbies, but I'm not sure your daughter is into those. I'm not sure what else to suggest.
