Awesome School Fund-Raisers

Your kid's school (and soccer team and theater group and dance troupe and knitting club ...) needs money—and while you'd love to write a big check, your kid's last name isn't Jolie-Pitt (though with their growing clan, maybe there's still a chance?!). Raise much-needed cash with one of these creative and fun fund-raiser ideas.
  • Have each kid auction off a skill (babysitting, lawn mowing) at a skill auction.
  • Host a restaurant night fund-raiser at a favorite restaurant. Some restaurants will donate as much as 15 percent of the night's profits to your organization.
  • Can't get out of the grocery store without blowing half of your paycheck (who can)? Put those dollars to good use with Box Tops for Education! Clip box tops and raise money for the school of your choice!
  • Have a community-wide parking-lot sale.
  • Forget about carwashes ... set up a "dog wash" at a local dog park.
  • Hire a professional photographer to take shots of your next function (game, concert, social event) and then sell the shots to sentimental parents for a profit.
  • Frame kids' art and have a gallery exhibit and sale.
  • Have a school T-shirt-design contest and print and sell the winning design for students (and parents) to wear at school events and games.
  • Ask a local supermarket if the kids can help pack and carry bags for customers—and set out donation boxes at the end of each aisle.
  • Give sports fans a reason to watch the game with CharityMania's sports fund-raiser contests.
  • Hold a raffle. Do a 50-50 or ask local stores to donate some items to raffle off.
  • Hold a dress-down day at school, allowing students (and teachers) to pay $1 to come to school in something outside of the dress code: pajamas, shorts, hats, shades, etc.
  • Do your online shopping through Schoolpop and a percentage of your purchases at stores like Nordstrom, L.L. Bean and Shutterfly will be donated to your kid's school.
