We're thinking about homeschooling our children. Where do we start?

Getting started with homeschooling can be a daunting process because there are many different approaches to take. A good place to start is by meeting with other homeschoolers and asking whatever questions you have, such as which curriculum they use, how many hours they spend on schooling, etc.

To find homeschooling families in your area:

Ask at local churches.

Ask at teacher or school supply stores.

Check out the bulletin boards at the library and coffeehouses.

Go online and search for city and state and homeschooling support groups in your area.

Look up your state support group online and contact them for local resources.

Also, read as much as you can about the topic. There are a number of great books and magazines devoted to homeschooling. Go online to check out the biggest homeschooling sites and see if there are conferences in your area that you could attend.

Some websites to check out include:

A to Z Home's Cool

Home Education magazine.

Homeschool.com

The more information you have, the better and easier the decision will be.
