Adolescent Irregular Menstruation

My daughter's periods seem very irregular. When should I worry?

Periods usually range from three to seven days, but the number of days may change with each menses. However, during the first year or two, your daughter's periods may not be regular and that could be perfectly fine. If a period lasts for more than a week, comes more frequently than every three weeks or your daughter does not get her period for more than two months, it's time to call your health-care provider.
