My teen wants a personal trainer. What are the issues I should be considering?

A personal trainer can be a great resource for kids who want to exercise but don't know where to start. More and more often, parents are hiring personal trainers to work with their kids to help prevent childhood obesity. A personal trainer can help your teenager learn the right way to exercise to help her reach her goals effectively while keeping her safe from injuries. A trainer can also help guide her in learning to do exercises properly and in setting up a program that's appropriate for her age and, importantly, is fun for her to do.

Other benefits of personal training for teens can include increased strength, better health and higher self-esteem through weight training, improved athletic ability in their sport or sports of choice and the opportunity to get fit in a safe environment without feeling as self-conscious as they might in group fitness or organized sports. Getting your daughter involved in exercise now can also help ensure she continues exercising and being healthy well into adulthood.
