How should I approach my teen about her weight?
When talking to your daughter, it's good to remember two things: First, once you say something, you can't take it back, and second, teenagers are very sensitive. Rather than telling your daughter she is overweight, start by talking with her about how important it is for everyone in the family to begin making healthier choices and exercising more. Only then should you gently approach the subject of her weight. Choose kind words and qualify everything you say by telling her how much you love her. Remind her how beautiful she is and how many other strengths she has. If she does want to work on losing weight, tell her you will do everything possible to help herand then really mean it!
