Bedtime Is Bedtime

Submitted by Mom2Karma
I don't understand why my husband does it! Even though I have told him time and time again that our daughter needs to be in bed at a certain hour every night, he never listens to me.
I finally got my daughter into a routine of going to bed every night at a certain time. I was so proud of myself. She gets into the bath between 9:30 and 10 PM, then she gets rubbed down with lotion, she brushes her teeth and mommy brushes her hair. Then she climbs up the stairs and goes to bed. When we follow that routine, she's asleep no later than 11 PM. She sleeps all night and wakes up around 9:30 or 10 AM.
But for the past couple of weeks, my husband has been staying up later and later. When he goes to bed after she does, he always wakes her up. I get so tired of having to run up and down the stairs while cleaning up the mess from the day. I just feel like smacking him after 40 trips upstairs. Last night my husband just sat on the computer and played while I kept telling him it was her bedtime and that she was ready for bed. Finally, 20 minutes after her normal bedtime routine, I told him that if he didn't get upstairs that I was going to lie her down and he could wait 'til she fell asleep to go upstairs. He finally went upstairs. By that time, her sleepiness had already worn off and she was wide awake again. So when I put her down for the night she just jumped and played in her bed. I finally got her to sleep after 1 AM, and she tossed, turned and whimpered all night.
I just don't know what to do anymore! What can I do besides beat him over the head with a blunt object to get him to understand that she has to go to bed at her normal time to get a restful night of sleep?
