Joe Lando on Living the Simple Life

Face it, kids are a huge expense. As a parent, you have to realize that and understand the amount of time it's going to take up in your life. Know it. Embrace it. And realize that these things pass. It's never a forever situation. Every obstacle changes into another obstacle. Kids grow out of things. You have more kids. You start to relax, understand and roll with the changes.
You don't have to spend a lot of money to have fun. Create memories by going for hikes, walking to the ice cream store ... and appreciate the parent you were to your kids. There's no need to get into a big expensive situation. Just keep the family together. Throw them into the car and go. It sounds simple, but it works!
The truth is, keeping it simple and doing things as a family can be can be tiring. But my kids have a sense of who they are and who we are as a family because of it. Try it! Get back to the basics. Don't spend a lot of money, just spend time and enjoy your kids.
