How can we raise our new baby to be of good character?
When your child is born, she has the potential to develop every character quality, but she needs you as her parents to teach her and help her to grow. You have primary influence over the development she attains, and the foundation of her character is formed by her teens.
She will gradually assume responsibility for her own lifetime character growth and development, but you have a huge opportunity to set her on a positive path while she is in her early years with you. While every child has his/her own personality, character is different. Character qualities affect the words and actions of every human being.
Some fundamental qualities that you will teach your child through your words, example and teachable moments are patience, respect, friendliness, compassion, generosity, gentleness, helpfulness, honesty, love, fairness (justice), moderation, flexibility, peacefulness, creativity, responsibility, confidence, assertiveness, courage, self-discipline, service, thoughtfulness, trustworthiness and truthfulness.
