Yay! I Didn't Screw Up My Kid!
Submitted by 1231angel
When I first found out I was having a son, my jaw dropped. I always felt like I couldn't be the mother of a boy! I could deal with a girl's tantrums, meltdowns and emotions. Heck, I could raise a dog better.
When I heard "It's a boy," I thought of a dirty kid who would wreck my house with a dirt bike and end up an unmotivated person who wants to do absolutely nothing with his life. In other words ... I can screw up a boy, easily.
But now he's 2 and you know what? I didn't do bad. My son says "please" and "thank you." He's potty-trained and doesn't miss the toilet when he aims (most of the time). When he sees people crying he tries to cheer them up. Sometimes I let him cry out a major tantrum in his stroller while people give me dirty looks. When I see people with kids the same age as mine who are being bad, I just think to myself, "You know what? I didn't do so bad."
I've had 2 years of becoming a boy's mom and I'm starting to like it a lot more. Now I'm gonna have a girl soon and you know what? I'm not so sure if I can handle it. Now I'm contradicting myself, but I know deep down my kids will turn out just fine *fingers crossed*.
