I wouldn't say that bringing kids along on a date is weird. I would say that it is both awkward and not fair to your date. The purpose of dating is for two people to get to know each other in order to determine if they want to develop a relationship. You and the person you are dating can't do this if children are around because the focus of the date is on the children and not the two of you.
