Military Spouses: Temporary Single Parents
Submitted by MrsMandy
Hi everyone!
Just curious on some ways that maybe could be helpful to keep yourself busy while your spouse is away overseas. I'm new here, and I'm not quite sure how this works, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
It's very hard to find things to do to make the days go by quicker. I am repainting my kitchen, so there's one thing that kind of has my evenings filled up. But what else can I do? My children help make up for the daytime usually. But my oldest son goes to school every day, and my daughter only on Mondays, Wednesdays and alternate Fridays ... which leaves me and my youngest son pondering what to do, lol. I usually clean my house in the evenings, when they're sleeping. That way there's no interruptions (cuz once I'm on a roll, I don't wanna stop!! lol)
Another thing I'm having difficulty with is getting my children to listen to me! It's like now that Daddy's gone (which I know they're young, and wondering what's going on, and it's hard for them to cope with as well) they're finding it hard to deal with just Mommy!!
So please, if you have any ideas on how to get my children to listen to me, or how I can keep myself busy, or my mind off the fact that my husband is away and the emotions I bear knowing this, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!
