Boys Will Be Boys

Submitted by r_mom1995
I'm an experienced mom of five. I've been at it a long time—12 years! But something weird is, four years ago, I had my first boy. The first and the last. Four girls, one boy. After we brought him home, the girls were concerned, but loved him. How strange. My girls? My girls who chase and beat on each other 24/7? Being gentle? With a boy? This was beyond me.
Two years went by, and as I suspected, the girls began to treat him like the boy his father wanted him to be. No mercy, my poor little Jake was getting beat up by his sisters (mainly the ones right above him—Julia, who's two years older than him, and Kaylee, who is four years older than him). My husband couldn't watch. His boy was supposed to be sticking up for himself! I told him, "He's 2! It's harmless running around and playing tag! Sure the pushing and kicking was there, but he's only 2!" My husband didn't want to hear it.
After a year, the boy came out in Jake. He began to chase and tackle his sisters. My husband could have been the happiest man alive the first day he went after his sisters! My husband saw this as his boy becoming a boy.
Geez, what is up with men? I can only savor the days I have left with my little angel boy, before he wants nothing to do with me!
