Crying Over Spilled Milk ... Literally!

Submitted by LorreaS
My two year old son has been crying since he came out of the womb. For the first 6 months of his life, it seemed that nothing could get him to stop. Then it settled down for a while and now, that he has hit two, it has seemed to start all over again. He literally cries over spilled milk, broken cookies, not getting the right drink, getting his diaper changed, and just about anything that isn't happening the way he wants it to go. Now, I have been around a lot of children in my life. I babysat as a teen, did day camps in my twenties and now I have three children of my own, but never have I ever seen behavior like this. I don't know what to do, to get him to calm down. I find myself catering to his every need just so I don't have to hear him cry.

Last night we heard a giggle coming from his room and we went in to check on him. Since he was still awake, we brought him in our room to hang out for a minute. Things were fun all laughs and giggles, and then he tried to snatch my glasses and then he started to cry when that happened. I sang to him and finally got him calmed down and told him that you can't grab mommy's glasses. He seemed to be fine and then he just started crying again. I put the blanket over him and let him just cry it out.

I'm at a loss. If there is anyone who have been through the same thing, please let me know and what I can do. For me and for him.
