Potty Training Boys: Standing to Pee
My son will be 3 soon and has been potty trained for about 5 months now. When should I teach him to stand when he pees and how do I go about doing that?
It's always a challenge for moms of boys to teach potty training. After all, we don't have firsthand experience! So the key for toddler boys to learn how to pee while standing is to watch their dads or any other males in the family urinate. So tell Daddy to be a potty supermodel. Once your son has seen Daddy do it a few times, let your son give it a try.
Show your little guy how to push his penis toward the potty bowl to keep from spraying the entire bathroom. When he starts to urinate, remind him to aim for the potty or toilet bowl and teach him to wipe up the drops if he misses. If he's really having a hard time aiming, throw a handful of Cheerios or Fruit Loops in the potty and have him aim at them.
