Losing Potty Training Enthusiasm
My daughter used the potty for three weeks and did amazingly well! However, just days ago she stopped. She's peeing her pants and sometimes even going on the floor. How does this happen after doing so well?
It sounds like the she lost her enthusiasm. You need to have a "little talk" with her. "You're a big girl now. In our house, we all use the potty. That includes you. We do not make these kinds of messes! Do you understand?" (With hands on hips, nod you head in agreement so she comprehends your seriousness.) "Does mommy need to remind you or will you remember to go?" Then regardless of her answer, the next time she even looks like she needs to potty, you say, "Remember what I said about going potty? Everyone in our house uses the potty. We do not make messes in our underwear in this house! Do you understand?" (Again, nodding head with hands on hips.) Eventually all your "We don't do this" and "We don't do that" statements, used with emphasis, will instill a sense of, "I can do it too." The "little talk" always works.
