Potty-Training Pressure

Submitted by Mrs_Fire_PC
Approaching my son's 3rd birthday and seeing the goal of him potty-trained by then fade. I've always been the kind of person that thinks it's fine for kids to follow their own path in milestones. So I can handle it if it's not quite on "goal".
There are plenty of people not potty trained until 4 yrs. old or so. In fact my husband was just telling me 1 of the smartest people he knows (a fellow co-worker) wasn't potty trained until 4 years old. I even recently read an article on pediatrician's dirty little secrets where 1 admitted their kid wasn't potty-trained until 4; Albeit somewhat because it was easier (Someone after my own slacker-mom heart ;) So what's the problem then? -The Pressure! I keep having thoughts of my son's birthday party filled with family, friends, and did I mention In-laws!? Where they all snicker and sneer that OMG! He's 3 and not potty-trained yet!?! Of course I know there's a million and 1 tips for potty-training and no I haven't tried ALL of them. But I know we're on our way to being done with potty training. I remember starting to freak out a bit when I was potty-training my daughter and I asked my dad when kids are usually done with potty training? Being my dad he said -"High school" -Ha! Ha! dad =D But, it did put it into perspective-Everything will be fine-Everyone follows their own path. Just enough with the pressure already!
