Starting Potty Training

My son is 22 months old and I feel from the bottom of my heart that he is ready for potty training. Is there any right way to go about beginning this most dreaded experience? He says "cacky" when he is going # 2 in his diaper and he absolutely knows what he is doing. Going pee is something I am not so sure about because one time on the beach he was diaperless and peed and showed no reaction. However, we do have a potty seat at home and I really would like to get rid of his diapers.

Any advice on getting started or knowing if he really is ready for potty training?
