Candace Cameron-Bure Is Not Afraid to Discipline
Submitted by Braden
I'm not afraid to admit it: We do spank our children. We get much of our parenting information from the Bible—that's my heart source. There are several passages that refer to disciplining your child.
We only spank on the bottom; and we don't EVER spank out of anger. NEVER! This is also done privately, as to not embarrass them in front of others. I talk to my children honestly about their offense, what went wrong, what they did or didn't do, then they get a spanking, we hug and pray together. It's most effective when the kids are younger. As they get older we get creative in making the punishment fit the crime. For me, spanking is an immediate a way to teach them the difference between right and wrong and when no means NO!
I know it can be controversial, but I also know that when it's done in love, and when it's done with prayer ... and NEVER in anger, it's a biblical and valuable way of teaching your children.
Besides being a mom, you might also know Candace as D.J. Tanner from the TV show Full House.
