My two older children are diligent workers and have never whined about doing homework. My youngest is very social and funny, but he has a hard time sitting in one place and getting through stuff. So what do I do to get him to finish his homework? I bribe him with treats. I sit with him while he works and I tell him, "If you can do this neatly, and finish it within a half an hour, there's a piece of chocolate a waiting for you." And you know what? It works!
