Candace Cameron-Bure: Stabilizer Parenting Style

I am on the strict side. I am a very loving parent, but I have rules, limits and boundaries set for my children. Growing up on TV and working in the entertainment industry, I saw so many kids telling their parents what to do. This seemed so wrong. So from a very early age, way before I was a parent, I knew I would not raise my kids this way. I've been given the responsibility to parent my children, not the other way around.
Discipline is very important to me, but in a very loving way. I am not out there to be militant, but I say, "Here are the rules, this is what I expect you to do." And when they don't follow what I've said, there are corrections and discipline involved.
I like things done the right way the first time. If I've explained the situation to my children, I expect it to be done. Of course, there's always one grace, but after that ... you're out!
