Catt Sadler On Being a Red Carpet Mama

As an E! News host, Catt Sadler spends a lot of her time on the red carpet, but when she's not getting up close and personal with celebs, she's busy doing what we all do — being a mom! We caught up with Catt and got her take on everything from her most memorable red carpet moment (it involves Johnny Depp and a perfect booty!) to the celeb moms she most admires and more!
Do your sons — Austin (11) and Arion (6) — think your job is cool or just something mom does? I think they like the perks of my job. We get to see a fair amount of movies in advance, visit some of the movie studios, and occasionally get tickets to the theme parks. What kid doesn't love that? But trust me, it's never just a given that they get to take advantage of these fun experiences. They have to earn them by meeting their family responsibilities and doing their best at school! So speaking of your cool job. . .in three words, describe awards seasons? Exhilarating. Surreal. Exhausting. Have you ever taken your sons to a red carpet event? I've taken them to a couple red carpet events. Austin got to meet his idol George Lucas at a Clone Wars premiere. He wore his brown Jedi robe and rocked a light saber. It was too cute. He was beyond thrilled! He also worked the Surf's Up premiere with me for E! He got to ask another one of his idols, Jeff Bridges, some questions. That was pretty rad. So your son interviewed George Lucas and Jeff Bridges, but who was your most memorable interview? My most memorable red carpet moment was interviewing Johnny Depp for the first Pirates of the Caribbean. I wore a gold necklace around my neck with a ship charm and asked him what he thought of my booty (shameless, I know). He asked if he could "touch it" and then told me my booty was "perfect and golden." We laughed and I turned bright red, naturally. You've met a lot of other celeb moms. Who do you admire and why? Heidi Klum, Jessica Alba, and Gwyneth Paltrow. All of these women project a really positive fun vibe. It's evident they love being moms, but manage to juggle career and family so effortlessly. They don't take themselves too seriously, but manage to be fashionable and gorgeous as they go about it all. These intelligent power moms inspire me! And when you're not covering Hollywood, what are your favorite ways to spend time with the family? We LOVE to travel! LOVE. My husband is from London so we've been stamping our passports quite a bit. The kids have been to England, France, and Mexico. Austin went on a humanitarian trip with me to Costa Rica last year as well. We truly enjoy the experience and adventure associated with seeing the world. I think it's invaluable to expose your kids to the planet if you can!
