Kim Fields: "Stabilizer" Parenting Style

I am a stabilizer! I appreciate rules and I think that you have to know what the rules are before you start breaking them or amending them or making them your own. I think boundaries are incredibly important. Even at 17 months, Sebastian is aware of what his boundaries are.
I also think organization is important, especially when you've got kids. I'm not yet the soccer mom ... Sebastian's too young for calendars and schedules and that sort of thing. But he knows where his toys go, he knows where his clothes go, he's very helpful, and it promotes a sense of discipline early on that is a prerequisite to having a good child.
I can't even fathom having a child that runs wild, doing whatever he wants, with no sense of authority. We all know those kids, but it's not their fault: It's just how they've been raised. And I guess that works for their parents, but that's not the parenting style for me. My husband and I set the rules, and our son follows them, period.
In addition to being mom to baby Sebastian, you may remember Kim Fields as Tootie on the long-running TV show The Facts of Life.
