Kristi Yamaguchi on To Pee or Not to Pee?

My youngest daughter, Emma, who is about to be 3, just started preschool. The school rule is that you have to be potty-trained and wear big-girl panties to school, but we're not really done potty training her yet so she has quite a few accidents during the day (she pretty much always comes home wearing something different than what she wore to school).
I struggle with the fact that maybe she's just not ready for potty training right now. I think she wants to go, because she sees her big sister and the other kids going, but something's just not clicking. We want to figure out the right technique that's going to just make it feel right for her, but we just don't know what that is just yet. My pediatrician told us that you can't do anything to "make it happen." He says that it's her body and her decision to control that part of her and she'll do it when she's ready. (My older one was a late toilet trainer too.)
Maybe I should just take a break from school for now and start her again in January. Maybe I shouldn't push it or make her feel bad. I want to do the best thing for her, I just don't really know what that is. ...
