She really knows her stuff. Thanks Jenny! I have but a 2 year old but I will be sure to use this advice in parenting her.
My "tween" (11 yr old girl) inherited her father's body chemistry which has made personal hygiene a HUGE issue as if she doesn't shower regularly (sometimes 2x a day) & apply deodorant she gets smelly -- bad smelly. She also inherited MY hormonal precociousness in that she's started having her period at 11... which ALSO contributes to bodily odors. At home, not such a problem, but in school... well, you know how other kids can be. We've tried to do our best to encourage her to take care of her personal hygiene & insinuated that people wouldn't say mean things to her IF she would make more of an effort. But she's just that person who's independent (love it) and doesn't care (or acts like it) what people think or say...
Any suggestions?
Hi Jennie! OMG! You're so awesome and I'm so excited my question got picked! I thought your answer was extremely helpful! I will be sure to tell the girls to work out their issues before they come to me - what a great way to get them to develop problem-solving skills! I have two sisters myself and we never fought like them while growing up.
Also, I love your Dylan vs. Brandon answer, wish I had asked that myself!
Thank you so much for the support! And yeah, I guess I do need to let her know when she can role play. Acting lessons might work wonders for her, since she is pretty creative! I appreciate your answer!!! On the otherhand, my husband is psyched that you said she should take acting classes, since he wanted to be an actor himself!
Hi Jennie. I have a 14 yr old daughter that has been writing her own music for years. I have alot of people tell her and me that she has a beautiful voice. it is very strong. She wants to sing for other people, yet doesn't want to be in front of other people. I know God has blessed her with this talent, she knows it too, but is hesitant to sing them in front of people. Her father, siblings and I are all musicians so we understand where she is coming from. Any suggestions to help her feel more comfortable?
