Child Custody: Visitation Schedules
How do we set up a fair visitation schedule for my husband and the kids now that we're separating?
First, let's not consider it visitation. The children aren't visitors in their parents' homes; both parents remain parents equally. With that in mind, arrangements should take into consideration the needs of the children regarding school and after-school activities, as well as the proximity of friends. The age and developmental stages of the children need to be considered as well. Younger children will need more time and contact with their parents, while older children will need to be supported in their ever-growing connection with their peers.
