An Unwelcome Family Relationship

Here I go: I'm almost 20 years old and I have a beautiful son, Emmett, who is 9 months old. He's the love of my life and things right now are going good. I have an extremely supportive family and lots of help. I attend college and my classes are going great. There is only one thing that is keeping us down. My son's father.

He is a loser pothead who lives at his mother's and is going nowhere in life. I don't want him around me or my son. He's seen him about five times since he was born, and for the past three or four months, we didn't hear from him at all. I thought I was off the hook till a couple nights ago when he called asking to see Emmett.

I don't know what to do. I told him the most I would be willing to do was once a month, but I'm wondering if I should just go to court. Would it even be in my favor? The guy hasn't paid a dime and hasn't helped me out at all.

For selfish and serious reasons, I don't want him to be anywhere around me or my son. His mother calls and wants to come over almost every other week. She completely pushes her boundries also. How do I deal with these two? I need advise on these family relationships ... ughh!
