Virgin Penne alla Vodka

This easy pasta has all the elements and flavors of its gourmet inspiration, but without the vodka, and without the fuss.

  • 1 (16-oz) box penne
  • 1 (24-oz) jar pasta sauce
  • ¼ to ½ tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 (6.5-oz) container garlic and herb spreadable cheese, like Alouette
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

    In a large pot of lightly salted boiling water, cook the penne according to package directions.

    Drain, place in a large serving bowl, and set aside.

    Meanwhile, in a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add the pasta sauce and crushed red pepper and heat till it just starts to bubble, stirring frequently to prevent scorching. Reduce the heat to low.

    Add the garlic and herb cheese to the pasta sauce and stir until melted and smooth.

    Pour the hot sauce over the prepared pasta; toss to coat. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over pasta, tossing well to mix.
