<!-- -->

Everything's neat-a in pita. Serve these warm, comfy sandwiches with prepared coleslaw and sweet potato fries.

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup bottled chili sauce or ketchup
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 (6-in) whole wheat pita breads
  • 1
    In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook the beef for 7 minutes, or until no longer pink, stirring occasionally.
  • 2
    Add garlic powder, chili sauce or ketchup, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar, stirring well to mix.
  • 3
    Cover the skillet, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 4
    When ready to serve, stack the pita breads on a microwave-safe plate, and warm them in a microwave oven for 30 seconds on high.
  • 5
    Cut pita breads in half and carefully open them at cut side. Fill each with ⅛ of sloppy joe mixture.
