4 Reasons We Want the Village to Raise Our Kids

Some people—people who are much smarter than us—say that it takes a village to raise a child. Well, we—like the Sister Wives—completely agree. Why? For starters, here are four great reasons:

1) Our children don't listen to us. But they DO listen and behave for other people. Their teachers and their friends' parents tell us all the time that they're very nice children. (Isn't that hilarious?!) So if their teachers and friends' parents raised them for awhile, either a) the children will turn into model miniature people, or b) the other adults will become scream-y and irrational, thus making us look like much better parents. Either way, win-win.

2) Having the village raise our kids would give us more time to hang out with "other villagers," a.k.a. equally exhausted mothers. Hey, we need our mom friends just us much as this mom does:

3) Along those same lines? If the village raised our kids, it would help us "learn important parenting skills" (see also "gossip").

4) If the whole village were raising our kids, we'd have a solution to our children's complaint that we are "The Worst Mommy in the Whole Wide World" ... we could just move them on to the next mommy! We acquire one or two new kids, send ours to the next hut and studiously attempt to not ruin the new offspring. And just when both mommies AND children are about to lose their schmidt, SWAP!

See? We totally need a village. What about you? Why would you love to have a village raising your child? Tell us in the comments below!
