Kids Explain: The Naughty Squirrel
In addition to being great at hiding nuts, forest animals make awesome scapegoats. Here's a recent conversation with my son.
Me: Dax, why is there chocolate smudged into your rug?
Dax: It wasn't me.
Me: Really?
Dax: No. Last night, a giant squirrel, it sneaked into my room, and ... and he stole some candy from my Easter basket, and he was eating it next to my bed. But he didn't eat it all, so he left some on the floor, and then he rolled around and made a mess.
Me: Dax ...
Dax: It's true!
Me: And I guess the giant squirrel also took my cell phone and played with it in your bed.
Dax: Yeah, he's bad, that squirrel.
Dax: It wasn't me.
